Auberge Resorts Collection, renowned for its exquisite properties, has just unveiled its newest gem in the vibrant Cultural District of Fort Worth, Texas. Bowie House, a luxury boutique hotel, showcases owner Jo Ellard’s vision of creating a modern retreat that exudes the essence of Texas.
With its prime location and meticulous attention to detail, Bowie House offers guests a unique and unforgettable experience.
A Personal Journey
Bowie House is not just a hotel; it is an extension of Jo Ellard’s personal history. Ellard, the president of Bowie Place Properties, had a deep connection to the land where the resort now stands. She resided in Fort Worth for many years, attending equestrian events and immersing herself in the city’s vibrant culture.
When the idea of a hotel emerged, Ellard had to make the difficult decision to remove her cherished cottage from the site to make way for the grand development.
Speaking about her attachment to the property, Ellard reflects, “We tried to relocate it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t feasible. Despite the bittersweet moment, it paved the way for the creation of Bowie House, allowing me to collaborate with the esteemed architectural and interior design firm, BOKA Powell, to bring my vision to life.”
Texas Charm with a Modern Twist
Bowie House captures the true essence of Fort Worth, without resorting to clichéd Western themes. Ellard wanted guests to feel the authentic Texan spirit as they stepped into the hotel. The lobby, adorned with warm brown tones and large, comfortable furniture, sets the tone for the entire property. “I want people to know they are in Fort Worth,” Ellard emphasizes. “It’s not just a hotel; it feels like walking into a grand Texan home.”
Guest rooms at Bowie House strike a perfect balance between elegance and space. Ellard intentionally avoided feminine, floral, or frilly designs, opting instead for handsome, roomy interiors. Color palette features taupe, soft rust, mohair, iron, and a material reminiscent of tooled leather.
The bathrooms, with their striking emerald-green tile-lined walk-in showers and separate soaking tubs, provide a luxurious sanctuary for guests.
A World of Art
Art enthusiasts will be captivated by the extensive collection displayed throughout Bowie House. Ellard, an avid art collector herself, carefully curated pieces from around the world, including artwork from her personal collection.
The diverse collection features various mediums and styles, ranging from modern to pop art, with a focus on emerging artists. The best part? All of the art is available for purchase, allowing guests to bring a piece of Bowie House home with them.
Bowie House offers a range of culinary delights to satisfy every palate. While Ellard took a hands-off approach to the menus, the restaurants at the hotel embody her vision of a Ralph Lauren-esque country luxe feel. Bricks and Horses, the signature dining room, features a stunning four-foot-tall weathered steel sculpture by Don Drumm, depicting a pair of horses in full gallop.
However, the highlight of Bowie House’s dining experience is the Bar. Here, guests can marvel at a 150-year-old carved wood bar that Ellard stumbled upon serendipitously. “It just fell into my lap,” Ellard recalls with a smile. “An antiques dealer contacted me, and I knew it was the perfect fit for the bar at Bowie House.”
Unwind and Rejuvenate
Bowie House goes beyond providing luxurious accommodations and delectable dining experiences. The resort features a fitness center, a pool deck, and the Ash Spa, a haven of relaxation.
With five treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a nail studio, a spa boutique, and a relaxation lounge, guests can indulge in a range of wellness offerings. The Billet Room, the hotel’s game room, invites guests to unwind and have fun with its vintage Art Deco pool table, complete with the patina of Dean Martin’s cigarette burns.
Real Estate Opportunities
For those captivated by the allure of Bowie House, the property also includes seven townhomes available for sale. Each townhome provides an exclusive opportunity to own a piece of this remarkable destination.
As Ellard explains, “People called it cow town, but Fort Worth is on the rise. Bowie House is the first luxury boutique hotel in the city, making it an exceptional investment.”
